I don’t know a single pastor or ministry leader that is not looking for more people from the church to step up and lead. I know I want more leaders in my ministry. I could use some more help as our ministry grows. But it takes intentionality on my part.
In this video, Bill Hybels shares a story of a church that had tremendously successful business people as members. They went to work each day to solve leadership problems, but they would not step up and lead at church. They would not step up to solve problems at church. Why?
Because, Hybel suggests, that specific church did not create a leadership culture within the community. He goes on to say that Romans 12:8 encourages us to lead if we have the gift of leadership, although I could not find the exact verse he used in any translation of the Bible I have. Regardless, Romans 12:8 does call us to use our gifts. Romans 12:8 calls us to step up and share the gifts we have been given with our church community.
Question: How do you create a leadership culture in your church?
