Can Stress and Pressure Help Your Ministry?

I ran across this video and I had to share it. In it, the guest speaker communicates that a leader can really benefit from stress and pressure.

But there is one caveat…you have to be prepared for it!

This video outlines three ways that leaders can be prepared for the stress that comes in their ministry. They must:

  • Have Realistic Optimism:
This makes sense to me. I just wrote about how important our attitude is in ministry. Our optimism must always be rooted in reality. Max DePree is known for saying, “A leader’s primary task is to define reality.”
  • Be Subservient to Purpose:
As a leader in ministry, you probably understand this well. Everything we do is about serving others. Ministry leaders tend to understand their purpose well. It is about putting others first. It is about servant leadership.
  • Find Order in Chaos:
Chaos is, well, chaotic. If I learn how to create order out of the chaos, then when chaos hits, I am less likely to let the stress impact me in a negative way.

Question: Do you find stress and pressure beneficial to your ministry?
